My Name is Chitra Kumar Rai. I was born on 1 January 1971. I was the 1st baby boy in my family. 18 months later my brother was born. This way my parents have 7 children, 5 boys and 2 girls. I was born in a joint family and we used to stay in a hilly region.  After my birth, my father and mother migrated from Dhankuta hilly region to Terai region.  My father was an admired witch doctor in our community. My father died at an early age (43) in 1986. After his death we faced a big financial problem in our family. Our economic status also turned too low and I have to stop my studies. 

When my father passed away, one and half years later I left the house and went with my friends to work at Dhankuta District.  I met one friend, His name was Santa Samal and he suggested that I read The Bible and share with me the gospel. He also assisted me to go to Kathmandu telling me that there are many opportunities for work. In June 1990, I came to Kathmandu with him. He took me to the Church and introduced me to pastors and leaders.  Then a few months later he left me alone in Kathmandu. I have to face big problems and different ups and downs in Kathmandu. At that time, those Pastor’s and leaders follow-up me to grow in Christ. Then I began to read The Bible, through reading it I got a lot of encouragement in my life.  In The Bible, I got one verse which touches my heart. 

In Matthew 9:12-13 Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ a For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”  From this verse I believe Jesus Christ is my Lord and the savior. He saves me from all my unseen sin and sets me free.  Then I feel that I am also His chosen child.  John 1:12 “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God ” I accept Jesus Christ is my salvation. He gave me eternal life in July 1990, then on 15th June 1991 I had a baptism.   

Then I got a call from God to do His ministry in my life.  I got many blessings while reading the Bible.  In John 15:16 “ You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go to and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” So, after that until now I am in his Ministry as a His servant and making disciples to fulfill His great commandment.
