I am Endra Bahadur (Barnabas) Tamang. I was born in a strong Buddhist family in Ree, Dhading. As I was born in a Buddhist family, from my childhood I followed Buddhist’s teaching and practiced what I was taught by the Buddhist leaders. After I was grown up I became one of the leaders of Buddhist religion in my village. I was really an anti-Christian. I didn’t like Christian people at all.

When I was 14 my Christian friends invited me to come to their program, so I went to that program just to see what would happen secretly. As I was watching this program, I saw people prophesying and speaking in unknown languages though they were our own tribe. After I saw all these things I felt fear in my heart and I was convinced that Jesus is really the true God. Next day I asked my mother “I want to go to Church” . My mother became so furious and scolded me with so many bad words. Jesus picked me up from the dead situation in life and I made only one decision that I would not turn back from Jesus even though I had persecution from my own parents and from my villagers for the sake of Christ. The persecution was not comparable with the Joy that I had because of Jesus in my heart.

Now I committed my life to the work of God preaching the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ among my own people in the remote area of Nepal called Dhading.

After a week I attended Friday night prayer meetings in Tawal Church with my friends and at that very moment we five Buddhist leaders accepted Christ together in that meeting. As that prayer meeting was going on, we newly converted also spoke in tongues and experienced the power of the Holy Spirit that we didn’t know even when night was over. Next morning when we were in the Church all of our parents came to church with sticks and stones. They started to stone at the church wall and windows; we closed the doors and windows and kept on praying so they couldn’t hit the church. After prayer was over we went back home, on the way all the villagers looked at us and mocked us because the incident had already spread that Buddhist leaders became Christian. When we reached home, our parents started to scold and bite us.

For two years I was persecuted by my family. Many times I was bitten, scolded and spit on, especially in the midst of people. Many times I was giving off food from my family. In those times some of the Christian mothers secretly invited me to their home and gave me food. In those days I drew more to God, went to solitary places for prayer and fasting even I shared about Christ with my friends and they came to Christ. During this time I was just attending house fellowship and prayer meetings. But after two years of prayer I requested my Mum to allow me to go to church on one Saturday. She said to do whatever you like. From that day I attended the main Saturday devotional service. From that day I continually went to all the services of the Church and moved forward for the Lord.

I got married with the Christian girl of their same church. I have one daughter and one son. After some time I became a leader in my local church and my parents became happy although they are not a Christian. I am praying and sharing about Jesus with them.

After attending the University in Pokhara and in 2012 I became acquainted with the Jesus Saves Network on the Internet. When I visited Dhading I would use the Internet Café to visit JSN websites. During a visit with my good friend Lako Lama, I became one of the leaders of the JSN ministry in Nepal.
